Robots Rule

So, I know this is a photo blog.  And I know these are just doodles.  And really I should just give up on my blog because I think I all of 3 people read this and it's only because the are so unbelievably kind and possibly unbelievably bored.  And I know a few of you know I went on a photo binge lately and went photo taking everyday last week during spring break. (yes, I'm one of those -- but before you think I'm some young High School student, I'm actually NOT and I'm going back after years of working for my graduate degree). Well, long story short, after hours of drawing transistors and looking at lattice structures, I felt like actually drawing. I have "misplaced" my sketchbook somewhere for the last 6 months. Anyway, didn't I already say long story short? I took some photos of a series of sketches. It explores the topic of robotic love/emotion. I hope you enjoy these sketches. thx. (See how I threw in the awesome interwebs lingo to give me that connection to the High Schooler Generation?  Aren't you jelly.).

PS. Promise I'll sort photos and post some soon.

Rules..

1. Never be so into "getting the shot," you forget about the people.  aka don't be a jerk or a butt.
2. Never trust auto mode -- but never forget it's a great guide to start with.
3. Don't be afraid to get low or stand on things.
4. Blurry is in the eye of the beholder...blur == bokeh, movement, excitement, creativity.
5. You'll never be sure...just try.

Stolen Image...Voice of a Different Generation

I thought this story was really interesting.  They say that fewer people are taking the time to blog now a days because there are so many people generating content, but no one to read it.  But I thought this story was incredibly impactful because this guy post 5 simple images and it spread across the world.  Yes, sucks that people stole his image and his voice, but it's amazing how his images became a symbol of rebellion.

What does your work say...well about anything?  Who do your images touch?  Who identifies with the things you take photos of?

Why do you take photos?  What brings you joy?  What are you trying to communicate?  What's your story? What's your style?  What's your point?  Blog over.  (yes, I know...no photos from me...=\)

Trains Planes...and HW

As some of you know my life is pretty full/busy and these last few weeks have been so incredibly busy...I haven't had the time to take as many pictures as I would like...Or the ability to take my SLR with me.  But trusty little Canon S500 was by my side. Photos from the plane.  I set the camera to manual mode and played with the exposure to get the following shots.  Sitting by the wing I think takes the best pictures...why? You get perspective..of the wing and you get the view of everything else.

Things to remember:
1. Never be afraid to try even if you think technically it might not work...sensor noise or light blur...etc.
2. Never use a moving object (like a plane) as a stabilization tool.
3. Remember to do your homework, dope!
4. You should try cropping better...to emphasis what you want.  The second photo would probably work better cropped to be a landscape photo instead of a portrait.
5. Try to make your horizons more straight please.
